Lunar Eclipse, Episode 3
Web of Fates
By Vidar Melne
“Must get to space”
”Must get home”
”Must get out of here”
Over and over again, these three phrases cycled through my head driving me mad. Although those thoughts were not entirely my own, in that moment, nothing else mattered more than escaping. But how? My mind being stretched in every way, I couldn’t sort out any of my thoughts.
Crawled up into a ball…
Hearing strange sounds…
Feeling helpless…
”Must get home”
Was this the end? It couldn’t be, the Arbiters said I had about 3 weeks to live after I stopped taking my injections.
”Must get out of here”
But it could be the end. Three weeks was always just an estimate. No one else has tried using Acitretrol Dexanorphine in this way before, so it was impossible to calculate exactly how much time I had left.
“Must get to space.”
Space, that’s the key. Despite me not knowing about this strange planet, that computer was still able to send a signal out to the Omniscian System. Maybe I could hijack the signal and send my own transmission out. It was a long shot, but it was the only choice I had. I started to type out a message as fast as I could, “This is Vidar Melne from Zeon DV5, I was working a job and we crash-landed onto…” Suddenly, I was pulled away by my worst fear. I was being dragged by an Araneaux. I originally tried to fight it, but I quickly lost all hope. I accepted that this was the end. When all felt lost, I heard Nakah’s voice trying to comfort me. I clung to that, and soon after my first episode started to dwindle down. I started to feel more like myself.
Once we got to the surface, I explained everything I knew about the Araneaux living inside me. Although that’s not as much as I would like… I originally asked Iggy if he knew anything about Acitretrol Dexanorphine, but there was no luck there. Ember then mentioned that if anyone could help, it was Hagan, so we set off.
Don’t even get me started on Hagan. What a bi …rude individual. I could list all the things that made me want to unload an entire power cell into her:
- Playing around with my dead friend Cerberus’s arm
- Cutting my hand without asking to use it to make a chemical mixture I’ve never seen before
- Not using animals as a trial before human experiments
- Refusing to let me have a stupid backpack
However, I had no other choice than to keep quiet and do whatever Hagan recommended. Her mixture revealed the large growing Araneaux inside of me. She said she couldn’t help further, but recommended we go see Mortimer Vallerian. However, not before handing me a vial of poison that would surely kill me… and hopefully the Araneaux if things got too much worse.
After leaving the hut, we went to the ship and found that a thief had stolen the Blackbox. Not only could it contain some answers as to how we ended up here, but it also included our identities. We had to get it back. Hagan pointed us towards Mistwood as to where the thief was heading.
Walking into Mistwood felt like walking into the set of one of my favorite TV shows growing up, The Smurfs. There weren’t any small blue people walking around, but imagine an entire village made up by mushrooms. As to why the black box would be here, I had no clue, but we had no other leads.
Yorfyr was, well… interesting… you could say. He led us to a marketplace where he spoke a silly language I’d never heard of, which led us to what I’m pretty sure was an undercover drug operation, and then to a tavern. He sat across from a creepy-looking individual, who then quickly jumped out of a window running away. The party chased him down and we eventually were able to get a hold of him.
Could he have any of the answers we were looking for?
